Crossword Country

One of Noe's favorite things to do is work on his crossword puzzle book. Amy gave him a big book of puzzles last year for Christmas. I think this is how he gets his brain exercise while he waits to go back to school.

Normally I like to sit ON the puzzle book and chew on his pen, but it is hard to get a good picture from that angle - so I took one from the couch instead.

Giving Thanks

I don't usually eat people food (when offered a bite, I tend to just lick it over and over), but dad's plate of Thanksgiving dinner looked so good I could not help myself. He left it alone while he went to get a beverage, and when he came back I was licking the chicken. It was so tasty! My camera took a picture right as he shoo-ed me off the tray table - too bad you can't see Amy's delicious cooking.

I also took this nice picture of Ralphie watching football:

I watched the football game for a little bit, but seeing as it was the Detroit Lions, well, it's not like we didn't know the outcome.

All in all, we had a great Thanksgiving! How was yours?

Put your right leg in...

What am I going to do with that Noe? He just keeps getting in my way. Here I am, trying to be an artist, and he keeps getting in my way. Even when I try to get away from him, he ends up in the picture!

Here I am trying to make a break from the sun room to underneath the microwave cart (where the Pepsi box is). I was closing in on my destination when this happened:

Then, as I was trying to move from the coffee table to the couch and perhaps take more pictures of the Guitar Hero drum set (I haven't gotten quite the shot that I'm looking for yet), someone saw the light on my camera blinking and decided to stick their hand in my photo:

Honestly, this is getting old. Can't they just let me work?

Stop bugging me

Ralph eats bugs sometimes. I think bugs are gross. Here he is hunting a bug in the sun room.

Stupid boys.

Costume Party

Sometimes it takes Amy a long time to get ready. This is especially true if she is getting ready for a party. Luckily, it only takes Noe a few minutes. He sits down on the couch to watch TV while he waits, and I get to sit on his lap, even if he is dressed up.

A couple weeks ago, this happened while Amy was getting ready for her friend Liz's Roaring Twenties party. I got some fun pictures of Noe waiting for her, and then a good one of Amy in her costume:

"Buns, are you taking my picture right now?"

"This football game is getting good...
maybe we can skip the party..."

"Are you ready yet? Where is the lint roller?
You have cat hair all over you!"

Dust Busting

I think Amy needs to clean our windowsills. They are a mess!

Housekeeping never was her strong suit.

Ad Age

I've been thinking that maybe I should feature some advertising on my blog. You're probably thinking cat food or kitty litter, but I like to aim big. So I give you the Nike Swoosh:

Unfortunately, this is not big-bucks product placement. It's just me taking a picture of Noe's leg when he was wearing gym shorts. Still, perhaps it will open the door to some revenue opportunities...after all, with Noe still looking for work, a kitty's got to do what a kitty's got to do!

The Buns is Back!

My new camera arrived in the mail this week! I was so excited, I spent several days wearing it and gathering new pictures. Here is a picture taken by Noe of me wearing my new Kitty Cam:

I spent most of my first day wearing my new camera in the sun room. It's my favorite room in the house, and has the best light for photography (the Kitty Cam does not, unfortunately, have a flash). I had to get the feel of wearing my camera back - I haven't taken any pictures for a long time!

The table and chairs that never got used this summer

Extreme close-up of the rug

These  were my practice photos to get me back in the swing of things. Good kitty photography takes a lot of practice and you get a lot more bad shots than good ones, so it will probably take a few more tries for my talents to really start to shine through again. In the meantime, enjoy, and check back frequently!

My favorite things

Once again, Noe is trying to manipulate my photographs by placing things in the path of my camera. This is Pink Baby, a present from Amanda. Luckily, Pink Baby is one of my very favorite things in the world, so I don't mind taking her picture.

Profile Pictures

I took this picture awhile ago but never posted it. This is Amy, once again jumping into my pictures, and once again dragging Ralph with her. However, Amy is much more patient than Noe when it comes to having her picture taken, so hers sometimes come out pretty clear. Ralphie looks kind of blurry, but that is because he is very squirmy and trying to escape. Amy liked this one so much she even used it as a facebook photo for awhile.

Window to the World

Although I spend most of my summer hours outside in the sun room, I haven't completely given up my perch on the guest room nightstand. This is actually my favorite place to be in the morning, before Noe gets up and opens the sun room.

These are views of Plant Street around 7:30 AM. Good morning, New London!

Lawn in Order?

As much as I like my jungle gym of lawn furniture, I think Noe needs to listen to Amy and set the table and chairs up OUTSIDE. They are blocking my views of Big Head and the squirrels!

The great outdoors

After looking outside through the windows and the sun room door for so long, I was starting to get spring fever! So Amy found an old harness - which barely fit around my belly - and leash, strapped them on me, and took me outside (I'm only allowed to go outside in a harness because I can slip a collar, and only in the backyard...even then, it makes Amy nervous!)

I had so much fun! I explored the wood pile, spent some serious time examining the garden hose, and then started to head over to the vegetable garden...when all of a sudden, Noe slammed the sun room door. It scared me so bad I took off running, dragging Amy behind me (the leash was clipped to her belt loop)!

I haven't ventured back outside since then, but I'm slowly working up my nerve...it was fun while it lasted!

Dead bush...it smelled like squirrels.

Big snake? Nope, just the hose!

Pearly Whites

Sometimes I like to hang out int he bathroom when people are taking showers. I call it "kitty sauna" - I like how warm it gets when the hot water is going and the door is almost closed (obviously it is not closed all the way or I would not be able to push my way inside!)

I am not really supposed to wear my camera during kitty sauna time because of A) the possibility of accidental naked pictures and B) we are not sure how the steam would affect the camera. However, I did manage to get a few shots of our bathroom during tooth-brushing time the other day:

Toilet and trash can

Pedestal sink - one of Amy's favorite fixtures in the house -
and the striped shower curtain that Noe was against at first

Noe holding me up to see if the camera was on.
Will he ever learn?

Photos by Ralph

Amy decided that Ralph should get to wear my camera and take some pictures. The problem with this is Ralph does not particularly like wearing stuff. The minute the camera was on his collar, he fell on his side and just laid there trying to kick it off with his back feet. Needless to say, we did not get many good shots from him. These were more or less the only ones that are clear enough to post.

Amateur.

Ralph is not very good with variety.

Snake Eyes

OK, this is kind of a cheat post because I did not take these photos. But I've been too busy to blog because Ralph and I have been busy with our pet snake! His name is Joban (named by Amy and Noe after the hit comedy I Love You, Man).

Joban!

Noe found Joban in our backyard. He rescued him from the jaws of Big Head and Blackie (two kitties who hang out under our bushes - Ralph and I don't like them very much!) Noe thought it would be funny to bring Joban inside and surprise Amy when she got home from work, because Amy loves snakes in her house (read her blog to find out about our last pet snake).

Ralphie loves snakes.

We put Joban in a tupperware container with holes in the top and had fun pushing him aorund the kitchen. I got bored after awhile, but Ralph kept at it all night, until Amy finally told Noe that Joban had to sleep in the sun room. The next day, Noe let Joban go because he didn't think we could feed him.

I get distracted by the camera.

I hope Blackie and Big Head don't eat our pet! Here's a video of me and Ralph with Joban.

RePETitive

Why does everyone always try to stick Ralph in my pictures?! Doesn't he get in enough on his own?

Spring is in the air

Today it was so warm here in New London that Amy and Noe kept the door to the sun room open all day. The sun room is the perfect kitty room - it is all windows on three sides and has several tables to sit on while we look out. Amy and Noe also store all the cushions from the patio chairs in there when they aren't using them, so we have nice soft cushion piles to sit and sleep on as well. If Ralph and I go in the sun room during the right time of day, there are plenty of pools of direct sunlight to lay in and warm my belly.

Here are some pictures from my day in the sun room - I was in there all afternoon!

Here are all the patio chairs stacked up -
Amy will be glad when these go back outside!

Here is a view of the front-facing door from my cushion.

A look out one of the front windows -
this is our street.

Ralphie likes to look out the back door -
he is looking for squirrels and other kitties!

Extreme Close-Ups

Because I wear my camera around my neck, sometimes it is hard to frame my shots the way that you - a human - would. Plus, the point is to show you how I see things, right? Well, I see things a lot bigger and a lower to the ground than you do! Plus, I doubt you spend much time jumping on tables or rolling around on rugs.

Sometimes I get a little too close to something I am taking a picture of. This happens because I am very inquisitive and like to check things out at close range. Unfortunately, my camera does not always cooperate and the pictures come out strange, like these ones below:

This is a close-up of a dining room chair,
as viewed from the top of the dining room table -
one of my favorite perches.

This is Noe's Indiana University sweatshirt,
taken while I was curled up sleeping on his tummy.

This is the rug in the TV room.
The light was weird because it was night.
I was rolling around trying to get people
to pet my belly when this was taken.

I am pretty sure this is Amy's New Year's Eve
centerpiece
from the dining room table.
It was a silver tree made of tinsel and I loved to chew on it!

Coming and Going

The thing about the living room is people are always coming and going. I like to hang outi n the living room because it gets a lot of sun, but laying in the middle of the floor can be kind of hazardous when Amy and Noe are getting ready to go somewhere or do something. So sometimes I sit on the steps instead and watch the action:

Amy waiting for Amanda to pick her up
and Ralphie trying to find some sun.

That blur in the middle of the sunshine is Ralph.
He is not as worried about being stepped on.

Amanda's here! Time to leave.

Noe was leaving to run errands but first he had to get in my face again.

Yummy yummy for my tummy

Hey, I can't take art shots and portraits all the time - a Buns has to eat, after all!

This is my kitchen, where we keep the kitty food. That island in the middle is where Amy does all of her slicing and dicing when she is cooking something. If you look under the island, you can see our food and water bowls:

Approaching the food bowl at a rapid pace - hey, I was hungry!

Sorry, I can't talk with my mouth full!

All done! I'll head around the other side of the island and into the TV room to go take more close ups of Amy and Noe while they relax.
